Dellet Weaver, 45, of 10305 Box Car Road, Jacksonville, died Saturday at about 8:39 a.m. from injuries sustained in a single-vehicle accident that took place on Fortson Road north of Dorsey Road in Jacksonville.

Deputy Jeffrey Scott of the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office reported when he arrived at the scene he found MEMS Ambulance Unit 504 and the North Pulaski Volunteer Fire Department along with Sgt. Ernest Bush and Lt. Mark Swagerty of the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office.

"MEMS advised that they had checked the driver (Weaver) upon arrival and found that the male driver had not survived the accident," Scott reported. "I began the examination of the scene and found that the 2007 Ford F-150 was traveling south on Fortson Road and the vehicle left the west side of the road, driving a short distance in the ditch before coming out of the ditch and crossing both traffic lanes and impacting a tree on the east side of the road."

Scott said Weaver’s truck sustained heavy front and right side damage with the driver’s door being removed from the vehicle by the impact with the tree.

"The roof of the vehicle was damaged and appeared to have impacted the driver’s head area," Scott said. "Lt. Swagerty had taken photographs and I also took 94 photographs of the scene."

The scene revealed skid marks exiting the ditch and crossing the road to the point that the vehicle left the road on the east side and impacted the tree. No other skid marks or other evidence was found at the scene of any other vehicle.

Deputies talked to neighbors that heard the accident and found that no other vehicles were in the area at the time of the accident.

Deputies contacted the Pulaski County Coroner’s Office and Deputy Coroner Patrick Moore arrived at the scene. Ryno Wrecker Service was contacted and pulled the truck off of the tree to allow rescue personnel to remove the driver from the vehicle.

A toxicology report was requested by Moore and he was it would be submitted to the crime lab.

Swagerty and Deputy Kevin Ford went to Weaver’s home and his next of kin was notified of the fatality.
