The Jacksonville Lady Red Devils dominated on Friday night against the Mills Lady Comets 65-46, picking up their second consecutive big win.

The Lady Devils ran out to a 20-7 lead by the end of the first quarter, and didn’t slow down until the had put the Lady Comets away.

Defensive pressure was part of the key Friday night, as the Lady Devils forced turnover after turnover while pulling away.

Offensively, Tiffany Smith and Keke Alcorn were hot from the outside, while Markela Bryles worked down low and led the team with 13 points. Smith scored 12 points for Jacksonville, while Alcorn added 10.

Smith and Alcorn each hit a pair of three-pointers during the Lady Devils’ run. Jacksonville went up by 30 points midway through the third quarter, but never quite got the mercy rule as the starters were pulled for the remainder of the night.

The Lady Red Devils had a mercy rule win the Tuesday before against the Sylvan Hills Lady Bears, 77-44.

Jacksonville is unlikely to win by 20 points this Friday as they prepare for a first place showdown at Little Rock Christian.

The Lady Warriors are tied for first with the Lady Devils, but currently hold the tie-breaker thanks to their win over Jacksonville.

Jacksonville was the team down by over 20 points in the first meeting against Christian, but came storming back to within a shot of taking the lead late in the game, but settling for a four-point loss.
