If you haven’t reserved your tickets for The Maumelle Player’s production of "Harvey", you might not be too late. Opening night is Friday, April 12 at 7 p.m.. This will be The Players’ last production at the Shepherd of Peace Lutheran Church, so why not pack the house for all six shows. Friday, April 19 is already sold out.

"Harvey," a Pulitzer Prize winning play was written by Mary Chase during the height of World War II. The story goes that she wanted to write a play that made people feel good during tension and sadness of war. "Harvey" succeeds on many fronts. While entertaining us, it also helps us question whether or not some of our fantasies might actually be reality. Often we spend so much time worrying about what is real, that we miss the memorable moments in our close relationships.

Mike Crosson does an excellent job in bringing Harvey to life, as a character seen only by the one he plays, Elwood P. Dowd. But as we find out during the play, perhaps Harvey is not just a figment of Elwood’s imagination. Peggy Cromwell, another veteran of the Maumelle stage, ties the logic and the imagination together as Elwood’s sister, Veta.

This play has 12 cast members and all were mentioned in a previous column. They have worked hard to learn their lines, built another wonderful set and done all the other things it takes to produce a community theater production. Come show your appreciation for the dramatic arts in Maumelle and support your community theater. Let’s fill the house!
