Alderman Jan Hogue was elected City Council President Pro Tempore at last week’s meeting.
Nominated by Ken Saunders, Hogue was the only nominee and was selected by a unanimous vote. With so much turnover on the council, Hogue became its longest serving member upon former alderman Doug Ladner’s retirement.
Ladner was the previous President Pro Tempore elected by fellow council members to serve as moderator in the mayor’s absence.
There is no additional pay for the position and it only functions in the mayor’s absence from a meeting.
City Clerk and Treasurer Joshua Clausen has been designated acting mayor should Watson be out of town on business or vacation to assist in the operation of the city during any absence. That selection was an appointment by the mayor.
