Harris-Ritter in state GOP leadership

The Republican Party of Arkansas announced today that Bilenda Harris-Ritter of Maumelle has been named the Assistant General Counsel to the RPA.

Chairman Doyle Webb praised Harris’ appointment, saying that "Bilenda brings a wealth of legal expertise and political experience to our state party, and we are fortunate to have her as our assistant counsel."

Harris-Ritter is a partner with Ritter Law in Maumelle and also serves as an adjunct faculty member at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. She is admitted to practice in Arkansas, California and the Eastern District of California federal bar. The areas of practice that she emphasizes are workers compensation, labor law, and election law. She also has extensive experience as an advocate for the rights of crime victims.

Her political experience in election law include working on the Minnesota U.S. Senate recount in 2008, the U.S. Presidential race in 2008 in Nevada on behalf of the McCain/Palin ticket, as well as the recall election of California Governor Grey Davis in 2003. Bilenda is also an active member of the Republican National Lawyers Association. She is a 1975 graduate of the University of Southern California and a 1990 graduate of Southwestern University School of Law.

Beebe appoints Fair

Gov. Mike Beebe has appointed Matt Fair, of Maumelle, to the Arkansas Workforce Investment Board. The appointment expires Aug. 10, 2014. He replaces Ricky Belk.

Jackson named to board

Former Monitor photographer Sandra Jackson, who recently moved to Fayetteville, was named to the to the State Board of Collection Agencies. Appointment expires Jan. 1, 2016 and she replaces Stephen Copley.
