PTO to meet next Tuesday

Please join the Academics Plus Charter School PTO for our next meeting at 6 p.m. on Tuesday in the Falcon’s Nest at the school.

The meeting will have a panel discussion and a question and answer session on the NWEA, or Common Core, test.

The group will be discussing the importance of the test, how it is administered, what it measures, and what the results are used for in the classroom.

Baseball team to host rummage sale

The 8-year old Maumelle Bulldogs baseball team is hosting a rummage sale on Friday and Saturday at 5 Blue Spring Cove in the Edgewater subdivision.

The rummage sale will start at 7 a.m. and end at noon on both days.

The sale will have home decor items, bikes, toys, clothing, sports equipment and patio furniture and much more.

Newcomers Coffee to held Friday

The Maumelle Newcomers will have a monthly coffee meeting at 10 a.m. on Friday.

The meeting will be at 128 Navajo Trail, the home of member Deon Green.

The public is invited.

Open casting to be in city

The Great American Home Movie, a documentary, is looking for people who have a story to tell.

That story being one they filmed themselves in home movies from the 1940s through the 1970s.

The director, Robert Hanley, will have an open casting on Oct. 19 at the Holiday Inn Express, 200 Holiday Drive, Maumelle.

The casting call will start at 9 a.m. and should last until 3 p.m.

Hanley, in a release, said, "We are especially interested in people who took home movies and/or 35mm slides, or were the subject of those movies and pictures."

The film covers American history from the Cold War to the birth of the computer age.
