North Little Rock police arrested three men Friday morning after the trio allegedly robbed the Maumelle Holiday Inn at gunpoint.

Maumelle police chief Sam Williams said Savaunte Scott, 18, of Little Rock, Dexter Hooks, 20, of Little Rock and an unnamed 17-year-old juvenile all were charged with aggravated robbery, theft of property and a host of other related charges after the early morning robbery.

Williams thanked the North Little Rock police for their rapid apprehension of the trio as they drove through North Little Rock shortly after the robbery in a 2006 Dodge Charger. He said Maumelle police had broadcast a description of the vehicle, which prompted the North Little Rock stop.

Williams said before the men hit the Maumelle Holiday Inn early Friday morning after they had allegedly robbed other businesses in Conway earlier.

A request has been filed but not acted upon yet, Williams said to charge the 17-year-old as an adult because of the nature of the robbery.

Even though the 17-year-old is being charged as an adult, Lt. Jim Hansard said the Pulaski County Circuit Court will have to formerly accept the case before the juvenile’s name can be released.

Ordinarily juveniles are kept within a separate system and their identity protected and whatever their punishment normally ends at age 21. But if they are charged as an adult, they are not given the juvenile system protections.

The two other men involved each gave police statements that they were just along for the ride and that the 17-year-old was the actual robber.

A clerk at the Holiday Inn Express said a single black male entered the hotel wearing a black ski mask, pointed a gun at him and asked for money.

The clerk said he didn’t believe the man until he pointed the gun at him, cocked it and told him, “Do you think I’m playing?”

At that point the clerk said he pulled out the cash drawer and placed in on the counter and the man took $629 in cash and asked where the rest.

When he told the man there was no more money the clerk said the robber ran out the front door after stumbling into them.

Maumelle police immediately placed a BOLO (Be on the lookout) for the Dodge Charger and a short time later North Little Rock police saw the vehicle near Verizon Arena and stopped it and arrested the three men and brought them immediately to Maumelle.

A 9 mm semi-automatic pistol was recovered along with the Dodge Charger and 2.6 grams of marijuana and a glass pipe, a black ski mask, $629 in cash and $300 in cash police said was allegedly from an earlier robbery in Conway.

Conway police said the three men were suspects in two armed robberies in Conway the same day.

The trio is currently in the Pulaski County Regional Detention Facility being held without bond.
