Central Arkansas Christian boasts two medalists and the boys team championship after its golfers competed in the 7-4A District Tournaments last week.

Senior Landon Hearnes fired five-under-par 67 to win the boys tournament at Silver Springs Country Club in Haskell. Michael Foster, another senior, shot one-under 71. Peyton Herald recorded a 76 and Jake Warner 77 as the Mustangs prevailed by 29 strokes.

The Mustangs will play host to the Class 4A State Tournament at Maumelle Country Club on Wednesday, Oct. 3.

In the 7-4A girls tournament at Malvern Country Club, freshman Alexa Goodlow shot 91 to take medalist honors by two strokes.

"I am very proud of the way Alexa played, especially on the back nine," Lady Mustang coach Max Weiner said. "She hit every fairway and made several six- to eight-foot putts. When you are doing that, you can score well."

Goodlow is CAC’s first female golfer since Jennifer Welch, who won individual state titles in 2005, ’06 and ’07 and recently graduated from Arkansas State after being named to the Sun Belt Conference all-conference team.

Goodlow played in the Class 4A State Girls Tournament on Tuesday at Glenwood Country Club.
