The Committee for Continuing the Progress for Our Schools is soliciting funds and support for the upcoming election. Election Day is Tuesday, June 13th. Early voting starts June 6. It is not a new tax,” reads the chamber release. “The extension will generate $65 million, which will be used to build a new Sylvan Hills High School.”

There are currently about 1,500 Sylvan Hills High School students in a facility what was built to house 825. “The new building that is proposed would include additional classrooms and labs. A new auditorium, cafeteria with commons area, arena and a multi-functional building that could accommodate an indoor practice area for band, cheer, and other athletics. The increased capacity would allow [Sylvan Hills] to host state and regional athletic events,” Cook said..

The committee is asking for monetary donations to help with their marketing campaign.

“It is important to get the information out to the voters to ensure a win in June,” Cook added. “The Sherwood Chamber Board of Directors voted to wholeheartedly support this initiative, and we hope you will, also.”
