Michael John and Mona Young of Maumelle announce the wedding of their daughter Ameilia Rebecca Young to William Watson Douglas IV on April 22, 2017.

The bride’s grandparents are Dalton and Becky Whitt of Maumelle, formerly Jonesboro and Cynthia Young of Heber Springs and the late AG Young.

Douglas is the son of Diana Douglas of Toowoomba, Australia and the late William Cobb Douglas.

Maid of Honor was Shawna Michelle Young, sister of the bride, of Maumelle and Bridesmaids were Carly Eggleston Somers, Fairfax Station, Va., Morgan Stotelmyer Myrick, Fayetteville and Kimberly Huebner, Larchmont, N.Y.

House Attendant: Hayley Savannah Nichols, cousin of the bride, Maumelle.

The bride’s dress, designed and created by Australian designer, Anne Bertossi of Bertossi Brides, was made of milk ivory colored Italian lace over milk ivory silk charmeuse. The strapless gown featured a fitted bodice with a sweetheart neckline and waltz length train. She carried a bouquet of pale pink tulips, fuchsia peonies, white and hot pink ranunculus and pale pink and white garden roses designed and made by her sister.

The Bridesmaids wore sleeveless navy floor length dresses made of silk shantung and carried smaller versions of the bridal bouquet.

Servoing as Best man was David Douglas, brother of the groom, of Melbourne, Australia and Groomsmen were Sam Douglas, cousin of the groom, Melbourne, Australia and Andrew Koek, Brisbane, Australia

The groom and groomsmen wore formal kilts in their respective family tartans.

Sign bearers were James Douglas and Connor Douglas, nephews of the groom Melbourne, Australia

The wedding Officiant was John Compton of Toowoomba, Australia.

The wedding took place on the front lawn of Bayou Oaks Plantation, Slidell, La., under the shade of the Spanish moss draped oak trees.

Soft jazz was played for the ceremony and cocktail hour by New Orleans X Ceptions, combos. The entire band of New Orleans X Ceptions, provided music for dancing and the second line music was provided by the band’s dixieland combo.

Both cocktail reception and dinner reception were held on the back, lawn area of the plantation. The cocktail reception was on the veranda and pool area with dinner and dancing held under a tent on the back lawn.

The Bride attended Mississippi State University and graduated: Suma Cum Laude, with a Bachelor’s degree in Risk Management, Insurance and Finance

She was a member of Delta Gamma sorority and is now a Senior Underwriter at Queensland Financial Lines, AIG, Brisbane, Australia.

The Groom attended The University of Queensland and graduated with honors.

He is a Private Client Advisor with Morgans Financial Limited, Brisbane, Australia.

The bride and groom spent several days in Napa and Sonoma Valleys in California, following the ceremony and will take an extended honeymoon to Mongolia, in the fall.

They will be residing at 64 Macquarie St. Apt. A-215, Teneriffe, Queensland 4005 Australia.
