Five Texans from Houston were arrested on Wednesday after the Walgreens on Maumelle Boulevard was burglarized.
Capt. Jim Hansard, the public information officer for the department, said the burglary happened around 4 a.m. on Wednesday and a “substantial” amount of prescription narcotics and other drugs were taken.
The front door of the pharmacy had been damaged as officers responded to an alarm call. They also noted a silver Nissan in the parking lot with Texas tags.
The vehicle left the parking lot when the officers arrived and police then began a pursuit.
At different points, two people fled the car at stops, and then three remaining were arrested after the vehicle was stopped.
The remaining two were found later that morning after officers searched the area.
The five Texans arrested were:
Tyrone Trammer, male, 31
Saleta Winn, female, 29
Malik Johnson, male, 19
Deanthony Roquemore, male, 20
Ebony Kiffa, female, 30
The five were charged with: Commercial Burglary, a class B felony; Possession of Instruments of a Crime, a class A misdemeanor; Possession of Prescription Drugs with Intent to Deliver, a class D felony; Theft of Property, a class D felony and Fleeing, a class A misdemeanor
The five are also suspects in other burglaries in central Arkansas.
