Maumelle’s Dorothy Porter won $1 million playing the Arkansas Millions instant ticket on Monday.

Porter bought the ticket at the Chenal One Stop, 13901 Chenal Parkway in Little Rock.

She told the Arkansas Lottery Commission that her plan was to bank the winnings and keep working.

Her win brings the Arkansas Scholarship Lottery’s total of million-dollar tickets sold to 59.

Lions Club welcomes new members

The Maumelle Lions Club welcomed four new members to its ranks at its monthly meeting on Mon-day.

All are city officials.

They are Alderman Gloria Timmons and her daughter, City Clerk Tina Timmons, Alderman John Vaprezsan and Fire Chief Gerald Ezell.

Ezell was not in attendance on Monday, said Club President and City Attorney Caleb Norris. Ezell had been assisting with the escort of the late Sherwood firefighter Jason Adams’s family to Virginia for a national memorial and was delayed on his return by Hurricane Nate.

The others were there on Monday and accepted their membership pins.

The Club was also recognized for its basketball court project that was named first place in the state for the Legacy Project.

The Maumelle Lions are also working towards the District 7-N Convention that will be held Oct. 21 and 22 in Jacksonville.
