After a run of unseasonably warm weather, the temperature took a dip and so did many others last Saturday at Maumelle’s Lake Willastein.

It was for a good cause though, namely the Special Olympics Arkansas as this the group’s annual fundraiser that was formerly held in North Little Rock.

Several teams also took a group plunge and include: Viva Plunge Vegas, Ink Custom Tees, the MSM Basketball Team and Fire and Ice, among others.

Sponsors for the event were Steve Landers Auto Group and Centennial Bank and Maumelle Fraternal Order of Police, Arkansas Pediatric Clinic, Skinner Chiropractic, Chick-fil-A, IHop, Starbucks, Kum and Go, Frank Fletcher Limited and the First United Methodist Church of Maumelle all provided support and assistance.

“The Polar Plunge is on the coolest (pun intended) events I’ve ever participated in,” said Raul Dallas, who was among those who took a flying leap into the chilly water. “Where else can you be surrounded by some of the greatest people supporting such a great cause?”
