The Fort Smith Board of Directors will discuss Tuesday possibly cutting the city's subsidy to the Convention Center by 10 percent.
This would cut the 2018 subsidy from $777,000 to $699,000 at the request of At-large Director Tracy Pennartz.
About half of the convention center’s funding comes from the city, General Manager Tim Seeberg previously told the Times Record. The rest comes from revenue generated by the convention center such as rentals, ticket sales and concession sales.
Seeberg and Fort Smith Advertising and Promotions Commission Executive Director Claude Legris will present the options to reduce the convention center's budget at Tuesday's study session, according to a memo from City Administrator Carl Geffken to the board.
The board will also review city fleet and property insurance renewal and fleet leasing options.
The Board of Directors' study session will be noon Tuesday at the Fort Smith Public Schools Service Center, Building B, 3201 Rogers Ave.
