A tornado siren in the Rogers Avenue and Cliff Drive area is out of service, according to a news release.

Given that there may be severe weather today, the Police Department sent out the news release to notify residents. The siren is out because of a mechanical problem, and is scheduled to be repaired next week.

"Residents in that area are encouraged to be aware of any rapidly changing severe weather until such time as the siren is repaired. The tornado siren is not intended to alert those inside buildings; rather they are to alert those who may be outdoors. Utilize local media outlets, social media, and weather radios to be alerted to a possible storm watch or warning," the news release states.
