The Maumelle Area Chamber of Commerce announced they will be hosting a ribbon cutting event for newly named roadway, White Oak Crossing. The road formerly known as Counts Massie.
It is scheduled to start at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 4.
The street is also known the Counts Massie Extension and travels from the Arkansas River in Maumelle north through North Little Rock before making a 90 degree turn east and ultimately back into Maumelle.
The new road name, White Oak Crossing, will begin at the turn and will continue east to the recently approved interchange at I-40.
A measure to change the street name was approved by the Maumelle City Council on April 16 and the North Little Rock City Council followed suit and approved the change on Monday.
Cary Bradburn with the North Little Rock History Commission said the former street name was for the Counts and Massie families, who had once lived in the area.
The ribbon cutting will be held at the bridge on White Oak Crossing. Limited parking will be available along the shoulder of the roadway. For more information please contact the Maumelle Area Chamber of Commerce at 851-9700.
