Early voting for a sales tax increase in Sherwood started on Tuesday.

With just one day’s worth of ballots in, 97 people had voted and Wednesday’s totals weren’t available before the paper’s printing deadlines.

Sherwood has one early voting site at the Jack Evans Senior Center at 2301 Thornhill. Voters can go there from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. now through Friday, with the Pulaski County Election Commission at 501 W. Markham in Little Rock as the other early voting site.

It is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and is open this week, along with next Monday, June 18.

The election will be held on Tuesday, June 19.

There’s two issues on the ballot. A permanent quarter of a cent sales tax increase that would go towards the city’s general fund.

Three quarters of a cent would be temporary and would be for $38.5 million in bonds to fund road construction and other infrastructure needs.
