Cynthia "Cyndi" Carol Rucker and James "Jay" Tucker Sayes exchanged wedding vows at 2 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 19, 2013 at Second Presbyterian Church in Nashville, Tenn., with Dr. Donald Rucker father of the bride, Dr. Robert C. Simmons and Rev. Jerry E. Thomas uncles of the groom, both of Texas.

The bride given in marriage by her father wore a candlelight empire strapless gown of satin overlaid with layers of chiffon, embellished with jewels and at the fitted bodice completed with a chapel length train. She carried a bouquet of white roses.

Kati Rucker of Korea, sister of the bride, served as maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Stephani Rucker Adkins of Tennessee, Janelle Rucker of Michigan, and Jennifer Rucker Nesbitt of California, all sisters of the bride, Kristin Rucker of Michigan, sister-in-law of the bride, and Christina Knisely of Kansas. They wore floor length charcoal grey strapless chiffon gowns and carried a bouquet of pink roses.

Joshua Melton Sayes of Okla., brother of the groom, served as best man. Groomsmen were Rev. John Michael McGinnis of Georgia, Jonathan Wheeler of Texas, both cousins of the groom, Bradley Rucker, Daniel Rucker both of Michigan, and David Rucker of Kansas, all brothers of the bride.

Guests were seated by Steve and Christopher Dinwiddie both of Arkansas, Caroline Adkins of Tennessee, niece of the bride, served as flower girl. Aidan Adkins of Tennessee, Isacc Rucker of Michigan, both nephews of the bride served as junior groomsmen.

A reception followed at Second Presbyterian Church. Accompanists were Russell Davis of Nashville, and vocalist Dr. Donald Rucker father of the bride, Judi Sayes mother of the groom and Dianne Mays.

The bride is the daughter of Dr. Donald Rucker and Darla Rucker of Ontario, Calif., and the late Alyce Penberthy Rucker formerly of Ohio. She is the granddaughter of Norman Rucker of Michigan and the late Edith Rucker, William Penberthy, Joe McGinnis and Vivian Penberthy McGinnis all of Ohio. She is a 2004 graduate of Carman-Ainsworth High School, 2008 graduate of Olivet Nazarene University with a bachelors of science in sports management and 2010 graduate of Mid America Nazarene University with a masters in business administration. She is employed with Partners Against Trafficking Humans as a project manager.

The groom is the son of Mel and Judi Sayes of Sherwood. He is the grandson of Delia Sayes of Illinois and the late Dr. James Ottis Sayes and the late Rev. L.E. and Etta Tucker formerly of Indiana. He is a 2001 graduate of Central Arkansas Christian School, 2006 graduate of Olivet Nazarene University with a bachelor’s in political science and a 2011 graduate of Thomas M. Cooley Law School with a doctorate in jurisprudence. He is employed with Huckabay Law Firm as an attorney.

After a short honeymoon trip to New Orleans and a March trip to Cuba, the couple will reside in Little Rock.
