Little Rock-North Little Rock area motorists will need to make plans to use other thoroughfares other than the Broadway Bridge starting in early 2015, according to Jeff Whatley,a public information officer for the Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department.

"The bid letting will be sometime this summer," Whatley said.

It is expected that the bridge will remain closed for a two-year period so area motorists will need to find other thoroughfares, such as the Interstate 30 or Main Street bridges, according to Whatley.

An important project to take place in Central Arkansas after the Broadway Bridge’s replacement will be the widening of the I-30 Bridge and its north and south interchanges, he added.
