North Little Rock and Pulaski County Special school districts have cancelled Friday classes because of the forecasted weather.

UALR also announced that Thursday night classes have been cancelled along with Friday classes.

A quarter-inch or more of ice is predicted in some places and the National Weather Service this week issued a winter weather warning for much of Northwest and northern Arkansas.

The snow and sleet is predicted to continue Friday along a path from the Ouachita Mountains to northeast Arkansas. Freezing rain and sleet in the central part of the state could total ¼ to ¾ inch.

In addition, today’s basketball games have also been cancelled and this weekend’s Battle of the Border Basketball Jamboree has also been cancelled.

North Little Rock Mayor Joe Smith issued an emergency alert for the city on Thursday as well.
