The Rev. Dale E. Bard of North Little Rock died Tuesday, July 24, 2012. He was born Oct. 30, 1928, to Frank and Laura Bard of Osceola, Neb. He graduated from Bethany College in Lindsborg, Kan., with a Bachelor of Arts degree and then from Augustana Theological Seminary in Rock Island, Ill. His ordination into the Lutheran Church of America took place in 1953.

During his 30-year ministry he served congregations in Nebraska, Kansas, Michigan, Iowa and Arkansas. His last ministerial position was at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church in North Little Rock. After retirement he served from 1984-1990 as executive director of the Arkansas Conference of Churches and Synagogues.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Vance Bard.

Survivors include his wife, Mary; a brother, Donal Bard of Central City, Neb.; three daughters, Gwendy Derden and husband Curt of Maumelle, Judy Peterson of West Des Moines, Iowa, and Cindy Covalt and husband Greg of Des Moines, Iowa; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

A funeral was held Saturday, July 28, 2012, at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church in North Little Rock. Burial was in Emanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Stuttgart.
