James Floyd Kelly, 90, died Thursday, October 18, 2012. He was born June 24, 1922 in McNeil.
Upon graduation from McNeil High School in 1940, he joined the AR National Guard and was activated prior to WWII. During the war he was a member of the 4th Squadron of the 62nd Troop Carrier Division and served in England and North Africa. When the Army Air Corp became the United Stated Air Force he was one of the original members. He also participated in the Berlin Airlift. During his 21 years in the Air Force, he was considered one of the best airplane mechanics in the country. Following his retirement he worked for the Pine Bluff Arsenal for 20 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Cora Lee (Baker) and Floyd Kelly, his beloved wife of 47 years Floy Jean (Coats), sister, Zettie Lee Lindsey and husband Robert, and brothers Roberts L. and William D. Kelly and wife Pauline.
Survivors include his twin daughters, Jean Zehler and husband Joe and June Parsley and husband Jim; granddaughter, Karen McDowell and husband Cedric; great-grandson Devin;sisters-in-law, Margie Haney and Kathleen Kelly; and a host of nieces and nephews.
A graveside service was held Monday, October 22, 2012.
