Juanita Jennings, 92, of Fort Smith, formerly of Pottsville, North Little Rock and Leslie, Ark, passed on to the arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, Sunday, Sept. 22, 2013, at Mercy Hospital in Fort Smith.

She was born Sept. 15, 1921, at Leslie to William and Annie Crow Thornsberry. She graduated from the Leslie High School and married her sweetheart, Leonard Jennings, in 1940.

After his Army service in World War II, they moved to North Little Rock and raised their family.

Juanita worked at Union National Bank in Little Rock, was a member of the Trainman’s Auxiliary in North Little Rock, the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter No. 505, a former officer of the ABWA Silver Charter Chapter in North Little Rock, and later participated in the Pottsville Extension Homemaker’s Club. She belonged to Baring Cross Baptist Church in North Little Rock, and joined First UMC of Russellville when they moved to Pottsville. Juanita lived the last eight years at Butterfield Place in Ft. Smith.

Juanita especially enjoyed her family and friends, gardening and scrapbooking. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Leonard, and six of her siblings.

Juanita is survived by a son, Dr. Terrance Jennings (Cathie) of Fort Smith; a daughter, Patricia Dyer (James) of Little Rock; four beloved grandchildren, Patrick Dyer, Jennifer Hannon (Mike), Mark and David Jennings; eight great-grandchildren; a sister, Wanda Lindley of Boerne, Texas; and many nieces and nephews.

The funeral service was held on Wednesday, Sept. 25.
