Rinzie Carole Lyon, devoted wife, loving mother, follower of Jesus Christ, prayer warrior, Bible teacher, mentor, gifted pianist, lifetime learner, and blessing to others died on October 13, 2012. She was 82.

Widow of long-time NLR pharmacy owner Bob Lyon, she was a strong advocate for public education in North Little Rock. She served as president of Dr. Burns Elementary PTA before assuming leadership of the North Little Rock Parent Teacher Council.

Her own thirst for learning was unquenchable. Prior to her marriage in 1954 she trained and served as a nurse anesthetist at St. Vincent Hospital. After taking years off to nurture and inspire the minds of her two children she returned to college, earning her undergraduate degree in history from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock in 1984.

She loved to study the Bible and served alongside her husband as a teacher and mentor to young married couples and intermediate youth in Levy Baptist Church for over 20 years. She also taught Sunday morning Bible classes for almost 20 years at Park Hill Baptist Church. Her greatest service to the church was her love of, and willingness to share, the good news of the gospel.

For the last three years Carole lived at Fox Ridge Senior Living in Little Rock. She was a vibrant, humorous part of a loving community. She played the piano after dinner until she was no longer able. The family would like to thank all of the wonderful caregivers who served Carole during these last years, with a specific debt of gratitude to Clarissa Kitchens, Jeffery Wright, Ashton Mathis Miller, and Detria Ellis of the Memory Center.

Carole was the daughter of Marcus Bradford and Mary Ola Bradford Brewer of Pine Bluff, AR. She is survived by her son Marc Lyon (Jean) of Nashville, Tennessee; her daughter Robin Woodruff (Keith) of Little Rock; and five grandchildren— Rachael, Robert, Hannah, Mary Grace and Tanner.

A celebration of her life was held at Park Hill Baptist Church in North Little Rock on Wednesday, October 17 at 3 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall. The family hosted a visitation at the church starting at 2 p.m. The service was followed by a family graveside service at Rest Hills in North Little Rock. Donations in memory of Carole may be given to Park Hill Baptist Church Sanctuary Renovation Fund.
