Stanford Lee Myers, 76, of Mayflower, previously of North Little Rock, died Friday, Sept. 14, 2012. He was born April 26, 1936 in Algoma, Wis. to Harold and Natalie Myers.
He had been an insurance salesmen in the North Little Rock and Little Rock area for many years before retiring in 2001 to take care of his father. He took great pride in being able to help his clients with their insurance needs.
For the past four years he had lived in Mayflower and was a member of Central Baptist Church in Conway. Prior to that he had been a member of Park Hill Baptist Church in North Little Rock for 25 years where he taught pre-school Sunday School classes for 20 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents; mother-in-law, Mary Gossard; and foster daughter, Tammy McGee.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Mary Jo Goodman Myers of Mayflower; sons, Scott Myers and wife Kimberly of Maumelle, Mark Myers and wife Luann of Mayflower; granddaughter, Amanda Myers of Mayflower; step-grandchildren, Wendi Blanton and husband Kevin of Beebe, Joseph Francis and wife Kala; and step-great grandchildren, Bailey, Hailey, Kailey Jo and Ethan; sister, Barbara Balliet of Elk Grove, Calif.; brother-in-law, Robert Goodman and wife Mary Jane of Springdale; as well as aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held 2 p.m., Thursday in the North Little Rock Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m., Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery at a later date.
