Veda "Tillie" Lee Morehead, 79, of Jacksonville died Wednesday, October 17, 2012. She was born March 10, 1933 in Gurdon, to James Aaron and Eva Garret Shaver. She worked for many years as a seamstress with Ottenheimer Textile and Bancroft. She then spent the next 20 years traveling across America with her husband, O.C. Morehead as truck drivers delivering produce. She was a member of MacArthur Assembly of God Church in Jacksonville.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, O.C. in 2001; parents; and brother, Glen Shaver.
Survivors include daughters, Wanda Brown and husband Stan of Cabot, Eva Manning of Jacksonville; sons, Mike Morehead and wife Brenda of Atoka, Tenn., Clayton Morehead of Mabelvale; sisters, Nail Gober Gains of Burn, and Barbara Steven of Gurdon; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be 4 p.m. Saturday, October 20, 2012 at Moore’s Jacksonville Funeral Home with Larry Burton officiating. Burial will follow at King Cemetery in Cabot. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
