North Little Rock traveled to Cabot last Thurday for a big match and came away with a 3-1 victory.

The Lady Charging Wildcats beat the Lady Panthers 27-25, 18-25, 25-25-18, 25-19.

In the first game, the momentum went back and forth with Cabot leading 22-20 following the serve of Lakin Best. North Little Rock then tied it at 22-22 before Cabot reclaimed the lead at 23-22.

North Little Rock had game points at 24-23 and 25-24 with the Lady Panthers tying it both times. The Lady Charging Wildcats eventually got the win at 27-25.

In the second game, Cabot fell behind 6-4 and 12-9 before Brylee Staten severed five winners in a row, including an ace, to give her team a 14-12 lead.

From that point, Cabot never trailed. In fact, they scored the final five points of the game. Raven Gilbert got a kill to forced a sideout on North Little Rock’s Serve. Best then got two kills following the serve of Taylor Bitely. After a Cabot block, Bitely served an ace to finish the game.

In the third game, North Little Rock pulled away late to get the win, 25-18.

In the fourth game, Cabot led 13-9 and 15-13 but North Little Rock’s Keedra Johnson’s serve got her team back into the game, which the Lady Charging Wildcats eventually won 25-18.

The Class 7A state tournament will start on Oct. 30 and be held at Rogers Heritage High School.
