2012 will mark the 36th year for Sherwood’s largest festival of the year — Sherwood Fest — is set for 8 a.m. on Saturday.
Admission is free and the festival will take place until dark at Sherwood Forest, 1111 West Maryland Avenue, when the evening ends with fireworks for the community.
Sherwood Fest is a family-oriented event that combines crafts, kids’ activities and family entertainment. Some of the activities planned are: Sherwood Rotary 5K walk/race at 8 a.m.; Sherwood Chamber Pancake Breakfast at 8:30 a.m. and Studio One Dance will perform at 9:30 a.m. among many other activities.
Entry forms for the Cute Kids Contest are available at Centennial Bank, Sherwood Forest and the Sherwood Chamber of Commerce office. Pre-registration is not required but is preferred. Entries will be accepted until 30 minutes prior to the contest. Age categories for the cute kid contest are:0-6 months, 6-12 months, 12-18 months, 18-24 months, 3 & 4 year olds, 5 & 6 year olds.
For children, there will be a kids zone with inflatables. Other features this year include crafts, MommyMagic, a climbing wall, vending booths, festival food, sand art, and dance teams.
The festival will take place rain or shine. No coolers, skateboards, pets or bikes will be allowed.
