North Little Rock’s Katelyn McMahan threw a shutout Tuesday against Conway and helped lift the Lady Charging Wildcats to a 2-0 victory.
The win was important because it kept North Little Rock (13-4) in the third place in the 7A-Central with a 6-2 mark behind Bryant and Cabot. Conway is next at 5-4, and North Little Rock’s triumph kept the Lady Cats in fourth place.
McMahan did give up four hits but her teammates helped her by belting out six hits. Cassidy Tucker paced the Lady Wildcats on her two-run home run in the third that gave North Little Rock its 2-0 advantage. Anna Beaver and Madi Bobbitt smacked doubles while Reagan Sperling, McMahan and Gracie Kimbrell all collected hits.
Last Friday, North Little Rock cruised to a 15-1 victory over Little Rock Central. The Lady Charging Wildcats recorded 11 hits and were paced by Bobbitt’s four doubles. McMahan also doubled and homered with Tucker doubling twice. Lily Douglass also smacked a two-base hit with Sperling adding a single.
North Little Rock travels to Fort Smith Southside this week. The contest is scheduled for Friday but may be moved to Thursday because of the potential of lots of rain in Northwest Arkansas. They host Mount St. Mary on Tuesday.
